The Biggest Hairstyle Trends for Spring 2020
The various hairstyles shown throughout fashion month on the SS20 catwalks take us on a trip down nostalgia lane. From retro pin up styles, to 90s influenced diamanté accessories and a return to 1920s flapper era.
Hair pearls have a made a return revived and modernised for the Instagram age at Andrew GN’s showcase. Styling choices include cornrows, topknots, braids and buns. Finger waves were a big hit during the fashion season, paying homage to the bourgeoisie from the 1920s era, heavily featured on the runway by Ermanno Scervino and Gypsy Sport, with added futuristic elements to modernise the style. Giant finger waves are on track to be a massive spring hairstyle trend. Prada also paid tribute to 1920s influences with emphasis placed on styling with sideburns, this generated an element of uniformity for the models on the runway.
Reminiscent of the 80s, messy pinned back styles were all the rage at the Versace and Tory Burch shows. Versace went as far as adding a wet look aesthetic to the style, full of hairspray for a long lasting hold.
